I am a Witness

Hello fellow friends, today I will be talking about a little more serious topic. I recently went with my class to the Holocaust Museum and Japanese Museum in LA. While I was there I was overwhelmed with all this intriguing, eye-opening, and interesting information. The information that I encountered made me realize what my past was like and just how crazy our world was. I was also very astounded that our world had come to such terms and no one was really helping. Being a witness to me means that I have to share my story and experience. The Holocaust survivors are getting older and their stories must be passed down to future generations to be remembered. So as a witness I find it to be my duty to hold that story and share it with others. The museums I went to really showed me this new perspective of what our world is and I think that it should be something that everyone should experience in their life.

"Sixty Acres"

The protagonist Lee Waite in the short story "Sixty Acres" by Raymond Carver is faced with making two important decisions to scare the hunters off his land or call the police and see if he wants to lease his land out for hunting. Lee finds two young boys hunting on his land, so he waits until they come back from hunting and scares them. They boys are young and were easily scared. Lee ends up letting them go unharmed, but knows that they will never come back. The second decision that Lee has to make is if he wants to lease part of his land out for a hunting ground. Many people come to Lee's land to hunt even though they are not allowed to. So, he is wondering if he leases out a part of his land for hunting will he be able to make some money off of it.

When Lee lets the two boys go he is showing great forgiveness and sympathy. This shows that even though Lee may come out as a scary rancher, inside he has feelings too. Lee is not sure if he wants to lease out his land for a hunting ground. The house he lives in is very small and the money may be able to help with that and his family. He is still unsure and is not sure if he wants to give up some of his land because it is like his second home to him. This shows that Lee is attached to this land because this is where he grew up and he doesn't know anything different. A decision I am currently struggling with is if I want to continue playing club soccer even though it is my team's off season. I love club soccer, but between that, school, and laguna soccer I have a lot on my plate. Sometimes I become overwhelmed with everything and I don't like that feeling.

Forever Me

Hello fellow friends, today I will be addressing what four items and container my time would be made of. My four items will relate to my family, heritage, accomplishments, and what legacy I have left behind.
My first item I would leave in my time capsule relating to my family would be my blanket that I loved and still love. Whenever I have it, it reminds me of family, love, and where my life started from the beginning. It is like a home away from home and it will forever and always stay that way.

My second item relating to my heritage/culture would be a picture of my great great grandmother in Italy wearing the most snazzy outfit I have ever seen. Whenever I see the picture I relate it to what I would have been like if I lived in that time. It also reminds me of where my family started and how they evolved into something great.

My third item I would put in my time capsule relating to accomplishments would hopefully be my gold medal I receive from the olympics for soccer and horseback riding. I would also like to put my graduation certificate from Stanford in there. These are my dreams, but I will make them my reality!!!

My fourth and final item that I would put in my time capsule is a picture of me smiling and laughing around a table with my family. I want to be known as a caring, smart, and athletic individual. To do this I would also put pictures with my friends and anything that showed who i am as a person and who I strive to be.

The bag that I would put all my four items in would be a a cut open soccer ball that I would fill with my items!!!! Thanks for reading and don't forget to comment below!!!!!!!!!!

???"Child of the West"???

Hello fellow Googlie bears, today I will be interpreting ways I do and do not identify with "child of the west"!!!

First I would like to talk about what "child of the west" means to me. When hear that term I think of the west coast, the ocean, surfers/shred the gnar, laid back, and family. I also think of back when the people were conquering and establishing the missions.

I think I do fit the term "child of the west." I love the ocean and all the things it provides us like surfing and the beach. I am a major water sports person and I have to say I shred at boogie boarding. I also love the warm weather that the west coast gives us because I do not think I could live in the cold for very long. The west coast is also a very popular and interesting place that always has new things to offer you. I am always looking for new things, so I think the west provides well for me. Life is not very rushed here like say, New York. Life just seems very rushed and chaotic there and I feel like on the west coast it is pretty chill, you get me man?! Most of my family lives very close to me, so that is why the west coast feels very homey to me. I don't feel like I am classified as a "child of the west" when the people were establishing missions along California. Life was probably very hard and different back then. I just feel like I have adapted to all new ways of life and have moved on from the past. Well there you have it folks!! Are you a "child of the west?? Don't forget to leave a gnarly comment below!!!!
Best wishes, Julia

Nobody Can Drag Me Down!!!

Hello readers, I have recently made an identity mask and today I will be sharing with you what the items I put on it mean !!

My first item I put on the front of my mask was a soccer ball. Soccer is one of my favorite sports and that is what most people know me for. I put some small horses on the front as well because I love to horseback ride and that is a big part of my life. I put shells from the sea because I love the beach, but they also represent that I am very adventurous. I put a ribbon that says "champion" on it because I have won many ribbons from horse shows. It also represents how much I travel because the horse shows are not always local. I put a picture of Harry Styles on the front of my mask because he is my idol/god and I love his music and him very much!!! I put a feather because I believe it symbolizes the freedom to be whoever you want. I put multiple words such as smile, friends, lol, and clumsy. I put these because these are the things that not only people see me as but what I see myself as sometimes. I put a necklace because even though I love sports and to get dirty, I can still have a girly side. I also put sequences on the front because well I have major sass and your just gonna have to live with it! I put a heart and a star because I feel that with love comes a bright future.

The back of my mask is some things that people don't know about me. First of all, I have many pictures of my friends. My friends are really important to me and I don't know what I would do without them. I have a pendant from a state cup soccer tournament. This always reminds me how far I have already come and how much farther I have to accomplish. I have a penny on the back because I always feel lucky and that may be because I have little Irish in me. I have a bracelet that is from the hotel I went to in Hawaii. It symbolizes how much I like to travel and how much fun I had on that trip. I also have a ghost sticker with its tongue sticking out. This just shows how weird and goofy I am. I also put the words dance, funny, and sister. When I'm alone I may just have a little dance party in my room and some people might not know that I have a sister. I am always making myself laugh, so I think I am a very funny person lol! I put a bracelet with a horseshoe on it, this just shows the love I have for my horse, Gabbano. I have tape that is pink, black, and white. This just shows that life can be great and a little difficult at times. Finally, I have a purple shell because you always need some beauty in your life.
This is just some of my identity and I bet there is much more to go around. This is me!!!

When I'm Old and Grey and Can't Partay!!!!

Hey fellow bloggers, how are we doing today? Today I am taking on the task of summing up what my grandchildren will think of me when I am old. What will my identity legacy be?

As I grow older I am constantly thinking about what I will be, who I will become, and what mark I will leave on the world. This is why when I grow old I want to remembered as being bubbly and fun. I will try to do my best at everything I do, but also will live life in the moment. I will try not to let things drag me down and put me in a bad mood. Just saying the word "yes" makes you smile and I hope that one day I can make myself smile as well as everyone I encounter. I think the laugh of someone is the greatest thing you can get from them because it spreads joy everywhere. I want to plant the seed of laughter, joy, and happiness and make everyone around me ecstatic.

I also want to be remembered for the things I hope to accomplish in my life. I have high goals and hopes for myself and I hope one day I will be remembered by these dreams. I love soccer, horseback riding, and school. I want to be known as a great athlete who accomplished great feats. I hope my grandchildren can look up to me for advice when they play there first soccer game. I hope and dream to be in the olympics, go to a great college, and live a life that makes me happy. I try so hard at everything I do and it would be a great honor if I could be remembered for it. I do all these things for myself as well as my family, so I hope they remember me and my legacy that I have left for them! So, if one day my grandchildren reads this I love you and I hope I left you with a great identity of myself that will make you smile everyday!!!

  • 2 Cups of happy
  • 1 cup or reliable

  • 1/2 a cup of athletic
  • 1 cup of family
  • 1 cup of social
  • A dash of independence
  • A pinch of sass
  • 5 cups of love
To start things off preheat the oven to 360˚. First put family and adventure into a bowl. Then add a cup of social and begin to mix. Adventure is what led you to make this recipe and you are making it for your family and friends. Next add in reliable, this ingredient will make sure that your recipe comes out looking beautiful. Next take out the batter and place it on a flat surface. Add the chunks of happy and fun to the mix and massage them in really well. This will make sure your food isn't bland and that there is a ton of flavor. After adding those in put the batter back in a new bowl and add the athletic, this will make sure your batter is flexible and doesn't stiffen up too hard. Last, but not least add in love. This will not only make your dish the most delicious thing you have ever tasted, but it will fill it with passion and desire. After everything is mixed in thoroughly place it in the oven to bake for 45 minutes. In the meantime mix independence and sass together. This will give you the best looking and tasting topping. After they are done bake place them to cool off. To plate this marvelous masterpiece add on the sass and independence you mixed together and add a glass of milk. Now all you have to do is enjoy and sit by the fire and admire your marvelous christmas tree.
