Eight Ways to Slay the Day!!!

Hello, fellow googlie bears today is the last blog that you will be receiving from the one and only. I know, I know calm your tears, but no need to fear I will always be with you in your hearts. Today for my last post I will be writing about eight important lessons that I think everyone should follow in eighth grade and life in general.

1. Manage your time with your homework- If you don't it starts to pile up and then you have to do it all at the last minute, which is not fun at all. It also adds a lot of stress that you already have to the situation.
2. Try to go to bed early- People say this a lot but it is true if you go to bed late then you are most likely sleep deprived the next day. It then will become routine to go to bed late and then your just a grumpy person all the time. This could also affect the way you do in school with tests and or projects.
3. Do your own thing and try not to care what everyone thinks- If u let go of the extra stress you can focus on the things that really matter. It allows you to do your own thing even if people do it another way. You are free to be you and find yourself in the world without people making you something your not.
4. Have fun and make memories- This is the year before you have to really start working for it, so make the best of it.
5. Always ask teachers when u need help- Asking teachers for help when you don't understand something is huge because it allows you to evolve. Also always go after extra credit opportunities because you never know what will happen in the future.
6. Treat your friends well and never turn your back on them- They are the one who will be there for you throughout your whole life, who sit with you while you cry, and are the people that know you best. Don't give them up for something stupid.
7. Form a relationship with your teachers- It will make it easier to approach them for questions and you will actually pay attention and learn more in their class.
8. Be nice to your parents- They are the ones who love and take care of you. They will be there for you for everything in your life, so in return do the same.

Goodbye googlie bears, I will love you forever and always and don't forget to slay life every single day. I will always be here and don't forget each and every one of you is SPECIAL!!!!

"Fire in the Bush" by James Warwick

Jerry Armytage is the mother of two children, who live peacefully in the Australian Outback. One day Jerry is looking upon the land and sees an unfamiliar haze in the distance, which she soon realizes to be fire. Her husband is out of town and her actions will determine if her family and animals live or die. She acts quickly and brings everyone to a creek where they will be safe and while doing so they watch the fire destroy everything they love.

Jerry grew up in the state of solitude, so she never feels lonely, just alone. Her husband is out of town and although she has Mary, the black ginn, she is basically all to herself. As the story continues on Jerry realizes that what she does will determine if herself, her family, friends, and animals survive this fire. She puts on a strong face and pushes through the terror because it is up to her to save the day. All by herself she herds the animals to the river, especially the sheep because that is their prize possession. Without the sheep, the shearing will not come to the farm and they will not make any money. The fire ignites something inside Jerry to become fearless because if she doesn't, all of them will die. She breaks out of her solitude and acts with terror and hope to bring everything to safety. An event in my past that has transformed me was deciding whether to come to Laguna Blanca or La Colina Jr. High. This was a very difficult decision for me because most of my friends went to La Colina, but Laguna seemed so intriguing. I am very glad about the decision I made because it overall made me a better person. Laguna helped me become more confident and make close friends rather than just having acquaintances. It allowed and still allows me to express my personality without being ashamed to do so. Overall in life, there are decisions that will change the rest of your life in a split second.

My Family and I

My parents have taught me many things in life and from this, I have become who I am. My parents and I are similar in the way that we have very strong opinions. We like to get what we want even if it takes a lot of work. We are also alike in the way that we are a very athletic based family. Together we enjoy to ride horses and play soccer. My father and I are very alike in the way that we both eat, breath, and sleep soccer. My mother and I are both very girly and we love to discuss everything about what is happening in the world and fashion. Lastly, we are similar in the way that we all have a positive attitude for the future. Some ways that I am different from my parents is that they have many different kinds of interests than I. My mother is an amazing painter/hairstylists and my dad is a phenomenal fisherman/businessman. Although I find these interesting, I like to do other things for my hobbies. We are also different in the way that we have different personalities. My father is the funniest person I know and my mother is the sweetest person I know. Even though we have similarities and differences we have still grown to be a very strong, loving family.

Overall, I feel that my relationship with my parents has evolved tremendously over the years. I have grown up now, so I am able to talk about real life things with them. This allows me to have a much closer bond with them than when I was little. My relationship with my mom has evolved because she has taught me so much about life and being a girl. When I was younger I was a tomboy, so you could say we didn't have much in common. My relationship with my dad has also evolved tremendously because I have started playing soccer again. As I said before we are both love the sport, so this allows us to connect over something. We often have to travel places for soccer so we have spent many hours talking and singing in the car. My relationship has grown so much over the years with my parents it's astounding, but it is what I learned with them along the way that I will keep forever. From my parents, I have learned that it is okay to make mistakes because in the end the outcome will always turn out okay. I have also learned to always be on time to things because punctuality is key. They taught me to do my very best at everything I do even if my best isn't good enough. Most of all they taught me how to be kind. My parents have taught me so many life lessons over the years and because of this I never take them for granted. My family is my rock and I know that they will always be there for me. I am thankful for the parents I have and am also thankful how close I am to them because it.

The Way to Success Through Education

Long time no see fellow googlie bears!!! Today I will be writing about the innovation I think has changed the world the most.

There are many things that have been created in this world that have made it a better and more functional place. The one innovation that I think has transformed the world the most is education. Education enables people to learn and perform the things that have made our world what it is today. Education is what led people to make fire, write the Declaration of Independence, and be able to survive. It is how we created our government, culture, and society so it all works functionally. Without education everything would be out of order and chaotic. Education is power and with power you can create and do things that lead the world to new things. People who created the computer or the phone had to be educated in order to do so. People who have built sixty story sky scrapers had to be educated so the buildings would not fall. Even people who make sandwiches have to educated to not put the cheese on top of the bun. Education is everywhere and with it, it has led us to communicate and have a functional world. Education is the base of everything and it has and still will lead us to a bigger and brighter future!!!

What do you think is the most important innovation that has happened in our world?????????

The things we need to fix in our world today

Hello, fellow readers today I will be addressing the topic of what I think the three most pressing issues in our world today. I feel that the issues in our world today are factory workers rights, child labor protections, and education reform.

The clothes we wear, the things we use to eat, and the beds we sleep on are all made in factories. Factories are a very important part in our society because they produce a mass amount of goods that everyone needs. They key part in making factories so useful is the people who work in them. If these people are not treated fairly then people everywhere will not receive the things they need to live. We need to pay these workers a good amount of pay so they stay with their job. We also need to give these people good working conditions. This will allow the workers to be safe and not have to dread coming to work every day. Factory workers are a huge part of what makes America, America. In order to keep up this role we need to treat the people who execute it safe and happy.

Child labor protections is also a very big issue we need to address. Children are meant to be running around, laughing with their friends, and not having a care in the world. Instead, some children are in sweat shops working their hardest to make a pay for their family or themselves. Children should not have to do the things adults do. We need to take a stand and try to rid all of this cruelty. Poor families should receive help, so children labor is not needed. These sweat shops are also most likely in poor conditions, which could potentially cause disease. Children should not receive this kind of treatment when they have not even seen a fraction of what they world is actually like. Children deserve the freedom to explore because they are so young and we need to find a way to give that to them.

Last, but certainly not least is education reform. Education is a necessity in life if you want to be successful. Some people do not get to receive this education because they do not have enough money or are of a different race. If we want our future generations to be successful then we need to educate them to do so. This could mean making some colleges free like public schools or setting up education programs for poor families. What we give these generations will influence our world in the future and I don't know about you but I want out world to thrive not diminish. People of the different race are also discriminated against in some schools, making them feel unwelcome. We want everyone to be welcome to the idea of education. Education should be free and without a cost because it is what we need in our world to thrive.

Do You

Hello fellow Googlie bears, today in this blog I will be describing what I want to transform in the world and why. I hope to transform the way people look at themselves in their community. I believe that everyone is equal and everyone should receive the same opportunities as one another. I think women look at themselves as a lower level of human when compared to a man. I want to change this and I want women to be able to look in the mirror and say, “I am powerful, I am strong, and I am proud to be me.” This goes the same for men as well because men are also discriminated against in our community. I want to change the way people look at themselves because we were all brought into this world for a purpose and why interrupt this with simple things such as gender and color of your skin. Together we can transform into a society that will accept one another for who they are and start a new era of freedom.

"The New Kid" by Murray Heyert

Dear young Marty,
You were never a first pick or leader of a pack, you were always the one picked last or not at all. Eddie and Gelberg were the leaders and you always wished you could be like them. You pleaded and pleaded to them to be able to play in the game of punch ball, but were always turned down. The curb was about to become your home for the rest of the game until you saw the new kid. You asked him to play the game with him so they could have even numbers on both teams. He hesitantly accepted the offer and you finally got to play. You got to play left outside on Gelberg's team. The game had begun and the ball was hit right in your direction, this was your moment to prove to everyone you were just as good as them. The ball comes hurdling down towards you and you drop it. The ball rolls out of your glove, nice going. You also end up throwing it to the wrong base too, which makes matters even worse. Everyone is yelling at you and calling you names. You are even more mortified. The new kid is next and when the ball comes to him he crumbles to the ground. You start screaming that he is scared of the ball. The new kid begins to protest that he was not scared of the ball and that the sun was in his eyes. The new kid then called Marty a yellowbelly and that is when all chaos let loose. People started fighting the new kid and that is when you stepped in and started punching and swinging crazily at the new kid. The new kid soon ran away and you stood there and realized you had just graduated from the runt status. You were so excited to be able to prank, beat up, and tease the new kid just like everyone else had teased you. You were unstoppable.

I know understand what I did was completely wrong. I was the weakest of the pack and when someone weaker than I joined I treated them like the others treated me. I was beaten up, called names, and hated. I did exactly what happened to me to someone else because it made me feel better. It made me feel powerful to control something rather than having no control and getting picked on. I feel absolutely terrible about what I had done. I was corrupted by the power given to me and it overtook my true personality. I was bullied and was the bully. I knew exactly how the new kid felt because I was in his shoes. I did not stop what was happening to him because I liked it, I liked not being the victim.

If my son were ever in a situation like this I would give him the advice to befriend the new kid instead of turning his back on him like I did. I would tell him to be friends with a person who is not Eddie or Gelberg because they are the real bullies. Together the two could stand together and defend themselves. Having numbers in this situation is good. The two boys would understand each other because they are both not very good at sports and such. You would not only solve your problem of being bullied, but you would gain a true friend.

You future self,
Marty

These Boots are Made for You

Hello little googlie bears, in this blog post today I will be writing from the perspective of a confederate soldier's boots. I am writing to the future generations of what lesson I have learned from the war.

Inside me lay a man
A scared man who is filled with fear
A man who takes each step thinking it may be his last

Blood is on me, in me
In my laces, on my toe
The blood has become a part of me
Without it I am useless

I am there to kill
I get a firm grip on the ground
As I plunge a knife into the heart of the Union
I jump with glee
Knowing that I came to use

I am part of the South
I am the South
All the other boots I fight are from the North
I do not like boots from the North

I am made of the toughest material out there
The hardest leather
So tightly bond that nothing could break me
Until the day it did

I am ripped, torn, and worn
I am broken and defeated
I am a disappointment of a cow

I lie in a field, motionless
As chaos storms around me
I am one of thousands of boots in this field
Though it is not thy who win the war
We have won freedom

Freedom that will carry on to you
Freedom that lets you have power
These boots were made for you

I am a Witness

Hello fellow friends, today I will be talking about a little more serious topic. I recently went with my class to the Holocaust Museum and Japanese Museum in LA. While I was there I was overwhelmed with all this intriguing, eye-opening, and interesting information. The information that I encountered made me realize what my past was like and just how crazy our world was. I was also very astounded that our world had come to such terms and no one was really helping. Being a witness to me means that I have to share my story and experience. The Holocaust survivors are getting older and their stories must be passed down to future generations to be remembered. So as a witness I find it to be my duty to hold that story and share it with others. The museums I went to really showed me this new perspective of what our world is and I think that it should be something that everyone should experience in their life.

"Sixty Acres"

The protagonist Lee Waite in the short story "Sixty Acres" by Raymond Carver is faced with making two important decisions to scare the hunters off his land or call the police and see if he wants to lease his land out for hunting. Lee finds two young boys hunting on his land, so he waits until they come back from hunting and scares them. They boys are young and were easily scared. Lee ends up letting them go unharmed, but knows that they will never come back. The second decision that Lee has to make is if he wants to lease part of his land out for a hunting ground. Many people come to Lee's land to hunt even though they are not allowed to. So, he is wondering if he leases out a part of his land for hunting will he be able to make some money off of it.

When Lee lets the two boys go he is showing great forgiveness and sympathy. This shows that even though Lee may come out as a scary rancher, inside he has feelings too. Lee is not sure if he wants to lease out his land for a hunting ground. The house he lives in is very small and the money may be able to help with that and his family. He is still unsure and is not sure if he wants to give up some of his land because it is like his second home to him. This shows that Lee is attached to this land because this is where he grew up and he doesn't know anything different. A decision I am currently struggling with is if I want to continue playing club soccer even though it is my team's off season. I love club soccer, but between that, school, and laguna soccer I have a lot on my plate. Sometimes I become overwhelmed with everything and I don't like that feeling.

Forever Me

Hello fellow friends, today I will be addressing what four items and container my time would be made of. My four items will relate to my family, heritage, accomplishments, and what legacy I have left behind.
My first item I would leave in my time capsule relating to my family would be my blanket that I loved and still love. Whenever I have it, it reminds me of family, love, and where my life started from the beginning. It is like a home away from home and it will forever and always stay that way.

My second item relating to my heritage/culture would be a picture of my great great grandmother in Italy wearing the most snazzy outfit I have ever seen. Whenever I see the picture I relate it to what I would have been like if I lived in that time. It also reminds me of where my family started and how they evolved into something great.

My third item I would put in my time capsule relating to accomplishments would hopefully be my gold medal I receive from the olympics for soccer and horseback riding. I would also like to put my graduation certificate from Stanford in there. These are my dreams, but I will make them my reality!!!

My fourth and final item that I would put in my time capsule is a picture of me smiling and laughing around a table with my family. I want to be known as a caring, smart, and athletic individual. To do this I would also put pictures with my friends and anything that showed who i am as a person and who I strive to be.

The bag that I would put all my four items in would be a a cut open soccer ball that I would fill with my items!!!! Thanks for reading and don't forget to comment below!!!!!!!!!!
